Harmony With Nature for better health and a better world

I've decided to take on the city of chattanooga "chicken ordinance." I'd really like to get it changed and I think there's a good chance to do it within the next counsel meeting in Dec. I need to get as many signatures as possible.

chicken coop

I called the city on this and found out the following. Unless you are grandfathered in before 2005, you cannot have chickens on less than 5 acres within the city limits of chattanooga.

I spoke to the director of operations of animal welfare and she even suggested we challenge this! Many people are interested in having organic free range eggs
but cannot afford the price of these healthy eggs.

She said the dog ordinance to keep dogs out of the river park was changed by getting 2,000 signatures recently. She said the chicken ordinance may not require that many signatures, but we would need to write up the proposed change in details.

The city counsel meets again in December so please sign the proposal to help us get it passed. I also have the specific e-mail address  for the director of operations. She said she is the one that would take it to the city counsel.

I would like to mention also that I know a good organic source to get chickens and chicken feed that is all natural. It's the same people who supply sequatchie valley organic farm with their chickens and feed.

I think this is an important issue for those of us that would like to become more sustainable within the city!

If you want to sign to make this new chicken ordinance pass please send me a message with subject: I'm signing for the new chicken ordinance
Send your e-mail to blazyk@bellsouth.net

Feel free to post comments on this post if you have any other suggestions for this proposal. Thank You Sooooo Much!!!

The following interview is one of the best I've seen discussing the dangers of the swine flu vaccine or any vaccine for that matter.

This is Dr. Russell Blaylock who has studied all the research and science on vaccines and what the results of vaccines are on the population.

The following is a re-print of a brochure given at a seminar with Dr. Mark R. Geier, M.D. , Ph.D. I re-printed it here in hopes of helping those that might be affected with the flu vaccines.

The government is aggressively recommending that all pregnant women be vaccinated with as many as three flu shots this fall! Unfortunately, most seasonal and swine flu shots are preserved with highly toxic, birth-defect-causing Thimerosal (mercury).

These FDA-approved flu shots are NOT approved for administration to pregnant women and carry warnings such as these on the package insert:

  1. Pregnancy Category C: ..It is also not known whether Fluzone vaccine can cause fetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman or can affect reproduction capacity.."
  2. Nursing Mothers: … Because many drugs are excreted in human milk, caution should be exercised when Fluzone vaccine is administered to a nursing woman"…

Carcinogenesis, Mutagenesis, Impairment of Fertility: Fluzone vaccine has not been evaluated for carcinogenic or mutagenic potential, or for impairment of fertility"..

Here's How You Can Protect Yourself

CoMed, a 501c3, is continuing to seek a preliminary injunction in Federal Court to stop pregnant women from being given these mercury-preserved flu shots.

Within weeks, SoMeD will appear at a special hearing in Washington, DC to provide documentation that women of childbearing age/who are pregnant are being denied informed consent regarding the dangers of these mercury-containing shots.

This is what you can do:

  1. Politely visit a pharmacy, retail store, clinic or medical office, askin for a flu shot.
  2. Ask "As a women who might be pregnant, I am curious, does this flu shot contain Thimerosal (mercury)?" Express a desire to avoid the nasal flu mist vaccine.
  3. After previous question is answered, check packaging to see if the healthcare provider is correct:   does the package list Thirmerosal (mercury) as an ingredient?
  4. After your visit, immediately record your experience by writing down what you remember.
  5. Go to www.mercury-freedrugs.org/ and click on the link "Sample Declaration for Women of Childbearing Age Trying to Obtain Mercury-free Flu Shots." DOWNLOAD this "Declaration" and personalize it based on your notes.
  6. Print Out the completed for and sign it. Then..
  7. FAX to Clifford Shoemaker, Esq. at  703-281-5807, and or
  8. SCAN in your Signed Declaration and E-mail as an attachment to paulgkinphd@gmail.com OR
  9. MAIL to: Clifford Shoemaker, Esq. 9711 Meadowlark Road, Vienna, VA 22182

Your statement could make the difference in protecting unborn children from unnecessary exposure to mercury from flu shots this year! Please help to safeguard these women and unborn children!

We've all had an ocassional feeling like our stomach is bloated for whatever reason. Of course if you just finished a huge Thanksgiving dinner or similar holiday indulgence, your going to feel bloated.

stomachbloatingWhat I'm talking about is a chronic feeling of a bloated stomach and you just don't know why it's happening. Well, I always think our bodies are trying to get a message across to us when we get any type of symptom and the message here is screaming "listen".  Don't you dare just try to cover up the problem by popping an an-acid or something silly like that, start  researching and find out what your problem really is. A great little site to start is the stomach bloating site. It talks about causes and cures for this disturbing problem.

Bill (my husband) and I were out doing some sprints recently. We were inspired by a video we watched talking about how high intensity spurts of excercise, cause the body to burn lots more calories that the usual 2 mile jogs we do.

So, we had been doing this for a couple of weeks and were getting in better wind shape. We also, made sure we warmed up before we started. (A lot of good that did.) Anyway, on sprint number 10 Bill let out a yell and hit the ground. Luckily we were sprinting on grass. I ran up to him as he was grabing his leg in pain. I was hoping it was just a cramp like he's had before, but it wasn't. He lay there knowing it was something worse.

We headed to sports medicine clinic the next day to find out he had a sprain tendon on his upper hamstring. So technically, his injury isn't a hamstring pull, which I would call more of a muscle pull. The doc saw him all of 5 minutes and we were out of there with $200 less in our bank account.

I make a point about cost because we don't have any insurance and do a lot of our own research for ways to heal ourselves. That might sound like living on the edge to a lot of people, but I would just counter and say if you are eating the standard american diet, you are living more on the edge than we are :-)

Back to the injury. So we go online and find out the best methods for healing a hamstring pull or hamstring tendon pull. We had already decided that physical thearpy sessions would be crazy expensive. Although we did go to one evaluation session, another $127 to tell us a few excercises to do. Wow, we couldn't figure that out ourselves. (Sorry, I'm being a little sarcastic.)

Online we had found this unique hand held ultrasound machine with rav reviews from people that have used it on muscle and tendon pulls. We also asked the physical therapist if this would be a good thearpy to use and they concurred it would be. So, we ordered it for $249 total, knowing it would also be good to have on hand and knowing it would be a lot cheaper than having ultrasound done at rehab.

Upcoming post will cover our results using this great little magic machine. In the meantime you can read some reviews on Amazon.

I've been working on a project for the last few months, and finally I'm ready to launch my new website dedicated to Tamron Camera Lens. I wanted to create a website for those that love photography, to have a place to learn through video tips, on how to improve your photography skills. So if you want to see some great videos visit my Tamron Lens site and go to the video tips category. I hope to be constantly adding more videos as time goes on.

Taking great photos and selling them to online stock photo sites is a great way to make some extra cash. Who doesn't need that these days? I will be posting more information on how you can do that in the near future. Also, if any of you have any great photos you want to showcase on my site, let me know. I'll post them up there with a link to you. Who knows what you might be able to sell?

Since this is a new website it's going to take me a little work to get my search engine rankings up, but from my research, I should be able to get to the first page of google with a little link juice work. Anybody that frequents the photograpy forums on a regular basis let me know. I just might be willing to pay you on a per link building basis. Contact me if your interested through a comment on this post.

I've always loved growing things. My Mother instilled a love of gardening in me when I was growing up. I can still remember going out in the backyard garden, walking through skyscraper corn stalks (at least it seem the stalks were that high to me then), and picking each ear that Mom said was ready to be picked. We would have corn on the cob for supper that night and I was the one that always ate most of them. I would always polish off at least 3 or 4 ears, hey at least I helped pick them. My brothers never were much good in the garden. Sorry bros, but I guess you had other interest.

As I left out on my own, everywhere I lived, I always had some sort of garden. Even in an apartment, I gathered big boxes of dirt and grew a little of everything out on the balcony. Come to think about it, it's a wonder that balcony held up all that weight. Well, I guess we were lucky, because I was too young and dumb to even think about that back then.

Over the years I intuitively knew chemical fertilizers and pesticides were not the way I wanted to garden. Nature had gotten by for millions of years without them and I certainly was not going to argue with the balance of nature. So, I began to do what nature would do, compost and plant for diversity that in turn brought everything into more balance. The diverse plants would attract all the diverse insects and kept a natural balance. Planting green cover crops in spring and fall provided even more material to break down and nourish the soil.

I will always love to garden, it's in my blood I guess and as the soil nouishes the plants, the garden nourishes my soul. I think it's that connectedness feeling I have when I'm out there. I become part of it all, the earth, the sky, mother nature, life, all merge into oneness.

Common herbs used to control and regulate blood pressure levels include Crataegus oxyacantha (Hawthorn), Passiflora incarnate, Viburnum opulus and Ginkgo biloba. All of these herbs have become well-known for their ability to lower blood pressure. In addition, they offer a tonic effect on overall heart health. Note: It is important to consult your doctor before making any changes or additions to your prescription medication and to monitor your blood pressure regularly – even if you are using natural medicines. In addition, always remember to source your natural medicines from a reputable company to ensure maximum safety and efficacy.

While Western medicine has become the norm in many cultures, it is not the only treatment option. Conventional western medicine, often called allopathic medicine, is the system of medicine taught at most medical schools and most pharmaceutical and synthetic medicines are manufactured and marketed according to the principles of allopathic medicine. Allopathic medicine is also sometimes called orthodox medicine.

Because most of us in the Western world have grown up in a society in which allopathic medicine is the prevailing norm, we forget that, only a few decades ago, homeopathic, herbal and other natural medicines were commonly available – and freely used even by conventional doctors. While there are often heated debates about which system of medicine is ‘better’ than the other, many responsible doctors (whether they are allopathic or not) recognize that both have a role to play in the treatment program. Natural medicine has often been frowned on by conventional doctors, especially by those who did not have sufficient knowledge of these medicines. However, it is encouraging to note that some medical schools are now beginning to re-introduce it into their course work, thereby providing doctors with a wider range of treatment options from which to choose. In many countries, especially in Europe, India and China, natural and homeopathic medicines are commonly prescribed by conventional doctors and represent a significant part of the total annual drug sales.Naturopathy is a branch of medicine (just as allopathy is a branch of medicine) which operates according to the underlying philosophy that the body has an innate capacity to heal itself. While natural medicines are often called ‘alternative’ or ‘complimentary’ medicines, they are, in fact, a unique and independent form of medicine in their own right, well able to treat a variety of conditions.

Perhaps the term ‘holistic’ medicine is more apt, given the broad range of treatment options and approaches which are to be found within the practice of natural medicine, which encompasses many different disciplines, including herbalism, homeopathy, iridology, osteopathy, chiropractic, therapeutic massage techniques, aromatherapy, acupuncture and many, many more.

Hot flashes, night sweats, and other chronic symptoms of menopause can drain us both mentally and physically. In time, stress levels will increase to the point that we become impatient and irritable nearly every day. Relationships with our spouse, friends, and family can be strained, leaving us in a state of unhappiness we can’t find a way out of. We may not understand why our hormone levels are decreasing or why they are causing the hot flashes and other bothersome symptoms. We just know that we want to feel normal again.

The best way to beat a hot flash is naturally. Hot flashes have a lot to do with the low levels of estrogen and the balance of other hormones in your body, but other factors can cause your temperature control to go out of whack. Recent studies show that medication is not always the best choice. Instead of estrogen therapy, look at less drastic measures first, partly because estrogen therapy is not known to be safe for women with a history of breast cancer—but also because you should always begin with the least aggressive approach to treating your menopausal symptoms.

Basic improvements in diet and lifestyle changes (including getting more exercise) helps to relieve many symtoms of menopause.  Increasing your level of activity (for example, taking the stairs instead of the elevator) has a positive impact on just about every other symptom attributed to menopause and growing older. Making these simple lifestyle changes are a lot safer than following some of the common treatment protocols practiced in the field of traditional medicine such as estrogen therapy.

The more you know about menopause, the better prepared you will be to make the transition smoothly. Dealing with menopause is best accomplished through a combination of diet, healthy lifestyle and natural support.

Hot flashes can have very serious health complications and should not be lightly dismissed. If they interfere with a woman's sleep they can devastate a woman's health. There are not many absolute requirements for optimal health, but a good night sleep is one of them.

Menopause symptoms always arise from an imbalance in hormones. This fact led to the development of a synergistic and adaptogenic combination of herbs that have been shown — scientifically and empirically — to relieve menopause symptoms by supporting your body’s ability to restore its own natural hormonal balance.

One such product is MellowPause which helps regulate all three of the hormones — estrogen, progesterone and testosterone, whose fluctuations are at the root of your menopause symptoms.

MMS stands for Miracle Mineral Solution or Miracle Mineral Supplement. The product name was coined by Jim Humble, who was the one that developed it.

Jim did not set out to create MMS. As in many great discoveries, it was unique a set of circumstances plus a driven curiosity that leads the way to that “ah ha” moment. Jim had just such a moment when on a trip in the steaming jungles of Africa. Several of his friends contracted Malaria and he desperately wanted to help them. As he had done on other trips, he had his bottles of stabilized oxygen that he carried to purify water. He decided to give the men with Malaria doses of the stabilized oxygen to see if it would help them. To his surprise the men recovered from Malaria in a short time. This catalyzed a desire within Jim to see if he could help other people with Malaria in Africa. Knowing that millions die of this disease every year, Jim's first thought was that stabilized oxygen could be the answer for every person looking to overcome their Malaria infection. Up to this point there was no know cure for Malaria, only drugs or vaccines to treat the infectious disease caused by protozoan parasites.

Jim set out to give his stabilized oxygen to other people in Africa with Malaria. He quickly found out that in some cases it worked but in other cases it did not. This only served to make Jim more curious than ever and to find out why it worked on some and not others.

When Jim returned to the States, he set about analyzing the properties of stabilized oxygen to see what the components were that killed off the Malaria parasites.

I won't go into all the details of Jim's story, you can read them for yourself in his fascinating book. But to summarize, the end product MMS, is a very powerful all natural cure for any viral or bacterial infection known to man. Yes, it does cure Malaria! That fact alone should have made the news, but if you know anything about natural cures(you can't patent them), you know big business can not make tons of money on them, so you will never hear this advertised by the big drug companies.

Here's the link for Miracle Mineral Solution that will take you to a page where you can find out more.
